Who we are

The company's experience and passion for glass reside in the history of the Rizzi Family, who for three generations, has been creating precious handmade works of art. Albatros, with the brand Sospiri Venezia, keeps the ancient tradition of glass alive, producing gift items and home decor accessories.

Giancarlo, studying glassfusion, one of the oldest glassworking techniques, has created numerous collections of items. Today, his son Stefano continues this tradition, taking the technique of glassfusion to new levels and renewing the product. Stefano is supported by his son Riccardo, who, with his "Gen Z" vision and studies, is leading the company into the future, with a constant commitment to innovation.

Our History

It was in the early 1950s, at the age of just 13, that our founder Giancarlo Rizzi, born in 1939, first became involved with the world of glass, learning all its secrets from master glassmakers of great tradition. His passion and dedication for the art of glass laid the foundations for our company, which today continues to honor and develop this tradition.

We feel a moral duty to carry on the legacy passed down by our founder, whose life serves as an example to us all. From a young age, Giancarlo Rizzi served others as a firefighter, participating in rescue efforts during national emergencies such as the Vajont disaster, the Florence flood, and earthquakes in Sicily, Friuli, and Irpinia. Additionally, he founded a cycling club to provide young people with constructive engagement, promoted blood donation with AVIS (Italian Blood Volunteers Association), and spreading a spirit of volunteerism in schools.

His dedication and spirit of solidarity inspire us every day to craft our products with care and responsibility, maintaining a strong connection with our community and promoting positive values through our craftsmanship.

The Tradition of Murano Glass

Murano, a picturesque island near Venice, is world-renowned for its refined glassmaking tradition, stemming from a millennia-old heritage. The roots of Murano glass art date back to Roman and Byzantine times, but it flourished particularly between the 15th and 19th centuries.

Legend has it that in 1291, the Doge of the Republic of Venice relocated glass furnaces to Murano to prevent devastating fires in the predominantly wooden-built city. Since then, Murano has become synonymous with craftsmanship and innovation in the world of glass.
